Bali is just one of more than 17,000 islands in the stunning Indonesian archipelago. However, you would be amiss using such descriptors as “paradise found” or “island of the gods”.
Bali is a wonderful destination with its varied landscape of hills and mountains, rugged coastlines complete with great surfing and diving, spectacular sandy beaches, lush rice terraces and barren volcanic hillsides. The locals of Bali incredibly friendly and welcoming making it on of the worlds most popular travel destinations year round. Eighty percent of international visitors to Indonesia visit Bali and Bali alone.
Unfortunately the popularity is not without its flip side— like many places on the island the once paradisiacal Kuta has degenerated into dodgy concrete bars swarming with touts and scammers. Be warned of serious overcharging.
But with that warning Bali is a wonderful destination with something for everyone and it easy to find quintessential peace and quiet and a genuine Balinese experience.
