Welcome to Mexico
Day 1: Welcome to Mexico

Hola! Once you arrive in Mexico City we’ll take you to straight to our hotel. You’ll have plenty of time to recover from your flight before meeting up with everyone in the group and getting excited for what’s to come.

Day 2: Discover Mexico City

What a place to begin our adventure! Known for mountainous surrounds, rich history and incredible buildings, we’ll kick things off with an orientation around the Historical Centre. Wandering bustling streets, we’ll learn about the Aztec Empire and history of Spanish Conquest, and check out icons like Cathedral Metropolitan and Plaza Garibaldi. The afternoon is yours to explore, opt to check out a museum or watch a traditional show. Tonight we’ll refuel with an authentic Mexican feast before heading out to soak up the nightlife.

Puebla and Oaxaca
Day 3: Puebla and Oaxaca

Saying adios to the city, today we’ll depart for Puebla, a beautiful colonial town flanked by volcanoes. We’ll spend the morning checking out the town’s artisan markets, tasting the cuisine and being amazed by baroque architecture. After lunch we’re off to Oaxaca, the gastronomic capital of Mexico.

Day 4: Explore Oaxaca and Overnight Bus to Tuxtla Gutierrez

Today we’re learning all about some of Mexico’s most famous exports - food and drink! First up we’re exploring the markets, then we’re off into the valley to visit a traditional mezcal distillery. We’ll learn all about this energising spirit, then tonight we’re boarding a first class bus to take us to Tuxtla Gutierrez.

Canyons and Mountains
Day 5: Canyons and Mountains

Jumping on a boat, today we’ll discover some of Mexico’s natural beauty. Cruising through the Canyon of Sumidero we’ll see cascading waterfalls, rich jungle, and cross our fingers in the hopes of spotting some cheeky monkeys and lurking crocodiles. Later we’re heading up into the mountains for our next stop, the delightful colonial town of San Cristobal.

Day 6: San Cristobal

This morning we’re visiting the Indigenous communities of San Juan Chamula and Zinacantan to learn about the fusion of ancient Mayan traditions and contemporary belief systems. Once back in town we’ll orient ourselves with a walking tour through the best markets, local spots and gorgeous churches. This afternoon opt to grab a drink in the square or get lost in the quaint cobbled alleyways.

Waterfalls and Mayan Ruins
Day 7: Waterfalls and Mayan Ruins

Leaving the mountains, we’ll drive through lush valleys before arriving at the famously blue Agua Azul Waterfalls, refreshing ourselves with a swim in the clear pools. This afternoon we’ll check out the Mayan ruins of Palenque, magnificent pyramids that have been uncovered from the jungle.

Calakmul and Travel to Bacalar
Day 8: Calakmul and Travel to Bacalar

Departing early for Calakmul, we’ll learn how this city was one of the most powerful hubs of the Mesoamerican empire. Later we’ll travel to Bacalar, where more thrilling adventures await.

Boat Tour on the Lagoon
Day 9: Boat Tour on the Lagoon

Today we’re spending the day exploring Bacalar’s stunning turquoise lagoon via a private boat tour. We’ll be mesmerised by the blue hues and drenched by sunshine. With nothing on the agenda but swim, relax and repeat, we’ll really feel like we’re in paradise.

 Tulum
Day 10: Tulum

Our Mexican fiesta continues as we travel to the Yucatan Peninsula. After checking in to our hotel in Tulum, a town known for its white-sand beaches and Mayan ruins by the ocean, we’ll have the rest of the day to chill on the beach.

 Chichen Itza and Cenotes
Day 11: Chichen Itza and Cenotes

Today’s a busy one! First up is Chichen Itza, an amazing UNESCO World Heritage Listed site featuring the massive pyramid known as El Castillo. We’ll have plenty of time to soak up this majestic, ancient place, before heading to Valladolid for lunch. Spend the afternoon diving into the clear waters of the beautiful Chu Kum cenote before heading back to Tulum to watch the sunset and top off another great day of exploring.

Playa del Carmen
Day 12: Playa del Carmen

This morning we’re off to Playa del Carmen, a town famous for palm-fringed beaches and buzzing nightlife. You’ll have plenty of time to snorkel the coral reefs, lounge on the beach or find a local watering hole to quench your thirst. Tonight we’ll get a little loco for our farewell dinner and drinks, getting amongst the nightlife that Playa del Carmen is known for!

Day 13: Depart or Extend Your Stay

Time to say adios as our Mexican adventure comes to an end. You can check out to head back home, stay on in Playa Del Carmen or continue your travels. We’ll be on hand to help with planning any onwards travel.
