Backpacker Overnight Sailing on Hammer

An impressive sailing adventure around the Whitsunday Islands, designed for 18 - 35s and young at heart travelers

Hoist the sails or take the wheel with plenty of opportunities to get involved while seeing the best destinations in the Whitsundays. We will show you the beauty of the underwater world and some seriously fast fun!

Our most popular trip for travellers short on time, 18-40s and young-at-heart markets. These tours offer time to explore the islands, including a short visit to the magificient Whitehaven Beach, one or two snorkelling stops, plus a scuba dive option on the fringing coral reefs which extend right from the edge of the islands. We can achieve this incredible itinerary in two days because Maxi yachts sail fast due to their waterline length and sleek design. For guests who want to be involved, they can help set the sails and have a turn on the wheel. The Captain and crew will provide interpretive information on the Whitsunday Islands and the Marine Park. This tour is Eco Certified.

Itinerary

Day 1 : Airlie Beach to Whitsundays
Itineraries are flexible and this itinerary is an example only. Trips will differ depending on the prevailing breezes and tides. Itineraries are planned by the Captain considering the safety and wellbeing of guests and crew. If you have a special place that you would like to visit, they will do their very best to see what can be done. Depart Abell Point Marina taking in the tropical air of the wonderful Whitsundays. Over the next two days you will experience an exhilarating sailing experience on an ocean racing maxi yacht which has won the Sydney to Hobart yacht race twice. During your journey you will sail, swim, snorkel (and dive if you wish), go on a bush walk to Whitehaven Beach and enjoy great food and drinks with your newly-found friends. You will be fed well today with morning and afternoon tea, lunch, a pre-dinner snack and of course dinner. Bring whatever you wish to drink, so long as it's not in glass. Sail across the Whitsunday Passage to Blue Pearl Bay on Hayman Island where you have the chance to snorkel. Around the southern side of Hook Island, pass through Hook Passage and speed sail your way to Cataran Bay on Border Island. Time to head to the north eastern side of Whitsunday Island to Whitehaven Beach. Take a guided bush walk up to the ever-talked-about Hill Inlet Lookout. Don't forget to bring your camera as this will be a view you will want to capture forever. Your crew will proceed to find you a nice and protected anchorage site for a night of fun. Bunk down with your fellow passengers below deck in the shared cabin.
