2 hours north of Sydney the Port Stephens area is simply paradise with over 26 incredible white sand beaches to choose from. It is no wonder that this trip gets booked out well in advance.
On our way to Nelson Bay in the heart of the Port Stephens area we travel north from Sydney over the iconic Sydney Harbour Bridge and up the New South Wales coastline made up of stunning golden beaches that have made Australia so famous. Nelson Bay is a cute town with some quaint local shops for you to explore before we head out to sea for a dolphin watching trip.
We are in search of over 150 incredibly playful bottlenose dolphins who call Port Stephens home. Between June and October there is the option to upgrade to our whale watching trip which goes a little further out to sea to catch the migrating Humpback whales renowned for their playfulness and acrobatics. If you are keen to get a little closer to the dolphins the boat comes equiped with a boom net to lower you into the sea.
Once back ashore you have your own time to hang out, sunbake on the glorious Stockton Beach, take a swim, or optionally try sand boarding down the huge Anna Bay sand dunes. Accessed by large 4WD the Anna Bay dunes are some of the biggest you will experience anywhere in the world and an awesome sand boarding challenge on purpose made boards. Alternatively, there are optional camel or 4WD sand buggy rides available.
