Hunter Valley Wine, Chocolate and Organic Vodka Day Trip

Boutique wineries, organic vodka, handmade chocolates, local cheeses and craft beers and ciders.

If there is one tour you must do from Sydney, ever, this is it! The Hunter Valley is Australia’s oldest wine producing region and this trip gets you off the beaten track to some local boutique wineries plus a great mix of handmade cheeses and chocolates, local craft beers and ciders, and really interesting organic vodka, schnapps, and gins.

Your tour of the Hunter Valleys gastronomic delights is made all the better with a stylish two course lunch at one of favourite restaurant wineries. But this isn’t just a drinking trip. The tastings at the three different wineries are fun but education with local wine gurus.

As well as the wineries you will spend time at the Hunter Distillery shed, the only certified organic distillery in the Hunter Valley where you can try a whole range of Schnapps, Vodkas, and the award winning Copperwave Gin and the Hunter Valley Chocolate factory, home to beautiful handmade chocolates and fudges.

Get out of Sydney on this unique day trip with a relaxed travel crew, no stuffy commentary, funky tunes, and great Aussie wines.

Itinerary

Day 1 : 1 Day Hunter Valley Scenic Wine & Dine Tour (from Sydney)
This unique exploration of the Hunter Valley region provides a variety of food and wine experiences to showcase the best of the regions local produce. From wine and vodka to chocolate and beer, there is something for everyone! This day tour is an informative and interactive tour with a relaxed pace and entertaining tour guide. As we head north across the Harbour Bridge we leave the city and peak hour madness behind for the rolling hills of the Hunter Valley. With a stop along the way to stretch the legs, we will arrive at our first stop, the Hunter Valley Chocolate Factory showroom for samples of their chocolates and fudges followed by time to grab a coffee and relax. After having your cocoa and caffeine fix for the day, we will progress to something a little more serious with a range of Vodka and Liqueur tastings at the Hunter Distillery. Set in a shed with a stunning backdrop, the distillery is the only certified organic distillery in the Hunter Valley and produces an exceptional range of top shelf spirits, including Vodkas, Liqueurs, Schnapps and their award winning Copperwave Gin! This day tour also includes lunch at the rustic Matilda Bay Brewhouse, situated within the grounds of the Hunter Resort. After lunch there will be ample time to sample some of the diverse range of ales, lagers and ciders on tap or visit the cellar door for an additional exploration of Hunter Valley wines. Alternatively, relax with a coffee and enjoy the views over the vineyard. And lets not forget the wine! The Hunter Valley is famous for its Semillon, but the region also produces a variety of wines including Shiraz, Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon and Verdelho and we will sample a range of some of our favourites at two winery cellar doors especially selected for their commitment to excellent customer experience and quality wine. After a full day of sipping, sampling and slurping our way around the valley, we will start to make our way back to the hustle and bustle of Sydney, which by now seems a world away, with comfort stops on the return journey, arriving back in plenty of time for a meal or a show in town!

RAG Recommendation

Relaxed and fun with plenty of wine and local delights. The organic vodka at Hunter Distillery is one of our office favourites with arguments over whether the mango or choc-mint flavour is the best. Or are you brave enough to try the epic chilli flavour!

A great Hunter Valley Wine Tour from Sydney. Organic vodka, schnapps, gin and liqueur tastings served in test tubes.Try the mango, choc mint, chili (if you’re brave enough) plus lots more and see why this stop has become a highlight of the tour

    Plenty of Wines to Taste

Lori and I were picked up right outside our hotel and with a small group hosted by Mick went off on a grand tour of some selected Hunter Valley vineyards, cheese factories and chocolate shops.

A tasty lunch and plenty of wines to taste and buy if desired. Mick was friendly, knowledgeable and fun. The day ended with being dropped right outside the foyer of out Hotel.

A great day out and we’d like to highly recommend the experience.

    A Perfect Day Trip

Fantastic day trip to the Hunter Valley with excellent Guide and Rep and outstanding views.

This was a perfect day trip from Sydney and the guide was brilliant. We visited 4 different wineries including McQuigans and Tullochs plus 2 others and I was impressed with the knowledge of the driver and the guide who kept us entertained on the drive there.

I would highly recommend this trip, and the wines and cheese were simply delicious. The views from the Tullochs were very impressive!

    Top Day Tour!

Did this day tour in November ‘17 and had a wonderful time. Lovely group, friendly and efficient driver and more than satisfied with the amount of places we visited.

Loved Lambloch Estate Winery the best with Geoff’s down-to-earth tasting session there. Highly recommended company.

Thanks for a great, memorable day!
